Generate LOD Levels
This tool creates LOD object and generats required number of low quality levels. Firstly you should select any object or subtree and select this tool. Selected object will be the first level with best quality. Low quality levels will be created on closing dialog.
Selected objects may be of any type with any hierarchy. Of course lights and cameras can't be handled properly. Billboards, skin and rest things with dynamic content should be excluded.
After execution of this tool you may adjust properties of reduction modifiers.
This is a helper tool, you may achieve same effect by adding same objects into the LOD Object.,
Properties
Number of LOD levels | Define how many levels, including orignial one should be in the LOD object. Usually 2 or 3 levels is enough. |
Level 2 Percentage | Amount of reduction for this level. |
Peform Hide Internal Parts for all levels | Hide internal parts. User can see low quality version from outside only, so there is no need to keep internal parts. If you know, that there are no internal parts, uncheck this option for speed |
Manually Enable Levels | Check this ooption if you want to generate levels later. This may be helpfull for heavy models, since processing time may be quite a big. |
An example of generated LOD levels
1 - Original assembly, Note, this is complex hierarchy with many sub
objectcs. After that, reduced version is generated by "Reducer" modifier. You may change properties or every object on your own any time later. You may want to convert generated levels to polygonal objects when everything is ready and checked. |
